About Bodies of Solace
Bodies of Solace is an independent artisanal womenswear label founded in Aotearoa, New Zealand in 2025. Designed and produced by a single designer, the work is grounded in vulnerability and the complexities of the feminine experience.
A sense of melancholy sits at the centre of the work, not to be resolved but held. The garments exist within this space, where suffering and solace coexist, allowing the body to move between fragility and resilience.
Through unconventional construction and intuitive surface experimentation, each piece is unearthed through distress, erosion, and fragmentation. Garments hold visible traces of process, wear, and emotion.
All materials are sourced locally within Aotearoa, working exclusively with natural fibres, and every piece is made slowly and ethically by hand. This practice stands against mass production. Rather than being created in volume, each piece is crafted intentionally in limited quantities, designed to be collected, worn, kept, and passed down. Longevity and eco-consciousness sit at the core of the making process.
Bodies of Solace creates garments that carry emotional weight. What begins as a personal self-study extends outward, where beauty and decay interlace, reflecting a shared human experience.
